I doubt they would have been prosecuted had they shot her, but that doesn’t make it the right thing to do. Indeed they were all easily able to get clear when she ran again, so shooting her was clearly not necessary to protect themselves. There is an argument that she was acting so recklessly that they should have shot her to protect some future person who could have been injured or killed in the continued chase, but it seems better that they avoided that. I think they handled the situation with admirable restraint.
